Qualifications

  • Forklift licence desirable but not essential.

Stores Assistant

41 hours per week

07:00 to 16:30 Mon-Thurs 07.00 to 12.00 Fri

£12.50 to £13.50 DOE

Based HU7

Key Responsibilities
  • Receiving & Checking Goods: Receive deliveries and verify quantities and quality against delivery notes and purchase orders. Report any discrepancies or damaged goods to the Stores Supervisor.
  • Stock Management: Accurately record stock movements and update inventory systems. Ensure all items are stored safely, labelled correctly, and organised for easy retrieval. Perform regular stock checks and assist in stock audits.
  • Issuing Parts & Materials: Prepare and issue materials, tools, and equipment to engineers and internal teams. Maintain accurate records of items issued and returned.
  • Warehouse Operations: Operate forklifts, pallet trucks, or other warehouse equipment (if certified). Keep the stores area clean, safe, and compliant with health and safety standards. Assist with packing, moving, and organising goods as required.
  • Documentation & Systems: Update stock management systems (e.g., ERP or warehouse software). Maintain clear and accurate paperwork including delivery notes, pick lists, and stock sheets.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Previous experience in a stores, warehouse, or logistics environment (preferred).

  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Forklift licence desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of safe manual handling practices.
