Job description

Winsearch is working with a leading Coventry-based composites manufacturer (Armstrong Group) to recruit a Storeman/Kit Cutter for their Bayton Road facility. In this key role you'll ensure the smooth daily operation of the stores area, supporting production targets in a high‑tech automotive, aerospace and motorsport environment. Our client stands at the forefront of metal and composite component manufacturing, and this permanent position offers the chance to grow your career in an innovative, Lean‑driven setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Stores operations: Oversee day‑to‑day running of the stores area, following all procedures and 5S standards. Ensure materials and kit components are stored safely, cleanly and in the right location.
  • Stock management: Manage inventory control, including part identification, batch coding and FIFO rotation to meet production schedules. Use stock systems (e.g., Sage 200 ERP) to record movements and maintain accurate stock levels.
  • Kit cutting (ZÜND): Operate the ZÜND digital cutting system to prepare material kits and templates. (ZÜND cutters provide automated, precise digital cutting of composite materials.)
  • Template and kit fabrication: Manufacture cutting templates and component kits to specifications, ensuring parts are labelled and kitted correctly for lamination or fitting.
  • Autoclave handling: Load, unload and monitor the autoclave curing process for composite parts, working safely under heat and pressure. Assist with breakout (de‑moulding) of cured components as required.
  • Production support: Liaise with the production team to help meet delivery targets. Assist operators by providing kits and materials on schedule, and help resolve any material or tooling issues.
  • Continuous improvement: Actively participate in 5S and Lean manufacturing initiatives, suggesting improvements to optimise workspace, reduce waste and improve efficiency across the store and shop floor.
Candidate Profile
  • Composites experience: At least 2 years' hands‑on experience in composite manufacturing (e.g., as a laminator or composites fitter). Understanding of prepreg, vacuum‑bagging and trimming processes.
  • ZÜND expertise: Proven experience operating ZÜND (or similar digital cutting) equipment to create templates and kits. Ability to load files, change blades/tools and troubleshoot basic machine issues.
  • Autoclave experience: Familiarity with autoclave curing processes is essential - knowledge of bagging parts, setting up an autoclave run and safely handling hot molds and cured components.
  • Inventory knowledge: Solid stock control skills, ideally using an ERP or inventory system (experience with Sage 200 is a strong advantage). Comfortable with Microsoft 365 tools (Outlook, Excel, Teams) and integrated systems like Sage 200.
  • Personal skills: Highly organised and proactive, prioritising tasks effectively under minimal supervision. Strong team ethic and excellent communication – coordination with production, quality and logistics colleagues.
  • Safety focus: High awareness of Health & Safety and work practices. Ensuring compliance with safety procedures at all times, and contributing to maintaining a clean, hazard‑free environment as part of the 5S/Lean culture.
