Job summary

Home Bargains is seeking Store Team Members with a primary focus on maintaining cleaning and hygiene standards across the Ballymena store. The role is part-time with a focus on ensuring a clean, welcoming store environment and supporting broader Store Team duties as required.

Salary up to £13.00 per hour, 16 contracted hours per week. Candidates must be 18+, reliable, punctual and flexible to cover early starts (5am) or late finishes (up to 10pm).

Qualifications

• Be aged 18 or over and able to meet health & safety requirements, including operation of cleaning machinery.
• Be reliable, punctual and take pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
• Willing and able to undertake cleaning duties, including operating cleaning machinery after training.
• Be flexible and willing to support with other Store Team Member duties as required.
• Be available for shift patterns that may include early starts from 5am or late finishes up to 10pm.

Responsibilities

• Operate cleaning equipment and maintain hygiene in shop floor, staff areas and facilities.
• Clean and sanitise staff areas, toilets and communal spaces.
• Sweep, mop, dust and clean floors, shelves and displays.
• Identify spills or hazards and act promptly to maintain a safe environment.
• Support with replenishing stock, deliveries and product displays.
• Assist with till operations and other shop floor activities when required.

as a Store Team Member - Cleaner, your main responsibilities will involve keeping our shop floor, staff facilities and other areas clean, safe and welcoming for customers and colleagues.

Although this position is primarily focused on cleaning, you will be employed as a Store Team Member. This means you will also be expected to carry out other Store Team Member duties as and when required to support the needs of the business. These may include serving customers, operating tills, replenishing stock, working deliveries and helping maintain store standards.

Job Overview

We are looking for someone who is happy to be flexible, work as part of the wider store team and lend a hand wherever needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Cleaning & Store Standards

• Operate cleaning equipment, including the Hako floor scrubbing machine, following the appropriate training and health and safety procedures.
• Clean and sanitise staff areas, toilets, bathrooms and communal spaces, maintaining high standards of hygiene.
• Sweep, mop, dust and clean shop floors, shelving, displays and other areas as required.
• Identify and respond promptly to spills, hazards and cleanliness concerns to maintain a safe environment.
• Ensure cleaning equipment and materials are used and stored safely.
• Complete additional cleaning duties as required to maintain excellent store standards.

Supporting the Wider Store Team

• Welcome customers and assist with queries, providing friendly and helpful customer service.
• Support with replenishing stock, working deliveries and maintaining product displays.
• Assist with till operations and other shop floor activities when required.
• Work alongside colleagues to ensure the store runs smoothly, particularly during busy periods.
• Undertake the full range of Store Team Member duties as reasonably required to support the operational needs of the store.

To be considered for this position, you must:

• Be aged 18 or over, in line with the company's health and safety requirements for the cleaning duties and operation of machinery associated with this role, including the Hako floor scrubbing machine.
• Be reliable, punctual and take pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
• Be willing and able to undertake cleaning duties, including operating cleaning machinery following appropriate training.
• Be flexible and willing to support with other Store Team Member duties as and when required.
• Be available to work the shift patterns required by the store, which may include early starts from 5am or late finishes up to 10pm.
• Have a positive attitude and enjoy working as part of a team.
• Be polite, professional and committed to providing excellent customer service.
• Previous cleaning experience or experience working in a fast-paced retail environment would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided.
