Job summary

Wickes is seeking a Store Manager Designate in Glasgow to train in our store and then support the Scotland region before taking the lead at a brand-new store opening. You will build a high-performing team, lead from the front, and drive a successful launch with a focus on customer service and sales growth.

You’ll bring inspirational leadership, a track record of managing a team to high standards, and a clear understanding of targets, promotions, and stock availability.

As part of our ambitious continuing growth plans, we have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Store Manager Designate to join our Scotland region. You will train in our Glasgow store, and then support the Scotland region until you are ready to take the next challenge!

In Q2 next year, you’ll take the reins as Store Manager and launch our brand-new store very close by! This is your opportunity to build a high-performing team from the ground up, lead from the front, and drive an unforgettable store opening.

The role of our Store Managers is essential to our business - this means the potential is high, as is the opportunity for growth. We are looking for transferable skills, which includes inspirational leadership, being able to spot talent, coach and develop a team to the highest standards whilst delivering great customer service. You’ll go above and beyond for our Retail and Trade customers, ensuring each and every customer has a great shopping experience and we are delivering sales through service. Understanding the financial side of a business including P&L, KPI’s and working to targets. You’ll also be big on what matters and ensuring Health and Safety is at the forefront of everything we do. A can do spirit and winning mentality is a must!

You'll be great at managing your workload and you’ll have the safety of others (including yourself!) at the forefront of your mind. You’ll be customer centric, making sure each and every customer has a great shopping experience with us and that you’ll come to work with a winning mindset. Some of your responsibilities will be as follows; Organising and working with your team to achieve the targets; Motivate colleagues and serving our customers, ensuring they get the right products for their needs- whilst ensuring promotions are up to date and the correct stock is available.

About you...

We are looking for someone who is (or has been) an experienced store manager within a fast paced environment. A can do spirit is essential in retail so this is a non negotiable for us! We want candidates who understand the financial side of business - previous KPI exposure and working to targets is a must. We also want people who know how to recruit great team members - you spot potential and are able to work with individuals to bring that out.
