Position: Store Manager

Location: DEBRA Charity Shop, Brighton

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £24,733.80 per annum / £13.59 per hour

Hours: 35 hours per week, across 5 days over 7 days per week (no fixed pattern)

Flexibility: Required to meet the needs of the business, including occasional weekends. Rotas are prepared in advance, but may be subject to change with reasonable notice.

Are you a passionate and organised retail leader ready to make a difference? DEBRA, a national charity supporting individuals and families affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), is looking for a dynamic Shop Manager to lead our Brighton store.

This is more than just a retail role—it’s a chance to lead a team, drive performance, and help transform lives through every sale.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Inspire and manage a team of staff and volunteers to deliver excellent customer service and meet performance targets.
  • Rotas & Scheduling: Prepare and manage staff rotas to ensure effective shop coverage, with flexibility to respond to operational needs.
  • Administration & Reporting: Maintain accurate records, complete weekly reports, and monitor KPIs including Gift Aid performance.
  • Sales & Productivity: Drive shop profitability through effective merchandising, layout planning, and promotional activity.
  • Visual Merchandising: Ensure the shop floor, windows, and displays are engaging, well-stocked, and aligned with DEBRA’s brand.
  • Health & Safety: Conduct regular checks and ensure compliance with all H&S procedures and policies.
  • Cash Handling: Accurately reconcile daily takings and ensure secure cash management.
  • Compliance: Follow all operational procedures and charity retail regulations.
  • Manual Handling: This role involves physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and moving stock. Training and support will be provided in line with the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992.
