Job summary

John Lewis Partnership is seeking a mid-weight designer to plan and deliver commercial and operational designs for all John Lewis formats, focusing on enhancing the customer journey.

You will develop design solutions for store interior architecture across customer-facing areas in line with JL&P brand guidelines, with a hybrid working pattern based at London Head Office, Pimlico. The role offers a salary up to £52,000 depending on experience and a night premium for hours 22:00–06:00.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will plan and deliver commercial and operational designs for all John Lewis formats that take into account the latest concepts that enhance the customer journey, consider ease of shopping and the customer shopping experience.

You will create and develop design solutions for store interior architecture across all John Lewis customer facing areas that are creative and in keeping with JL&P brand guidelines.

This role is looking for a mid-weight designer with proven Design experience with a Retail brand.

In addition to your contractual pay, any time worked between 22:00 - 06:00 will attract Night Premium at a rate of £5.25 per hour. This will also apply to existing Partners who have enrolled onto Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements.

Expected salary - up to £52,000 depending on experience

Contract type - This position is a Fixed Term contract until the end of May 2027

Working pattern/flexible working - The Partnership has adopted a hybrid working approach, meaning you'll be able to work a mixture between the office and home based upon your personal needs, whilst balancing the needs of the business. Within the Brand and Store Experience team, we believe in the power of connection, which is why our core office days are Monday and Tuesday. We typically aim for around three days a week in the office or visiting shops to allow for collaboration and attendance of key meetings.

Location - This role is based at our London Head Office campus in Pimlico. Please note, any cost incurred as a result of travel to the office is the responsibility of the successful candidate. There is also a responsibility to visit our John Lewis branches when necessary and travel costs will be met in line with the travel policy.

Essential skills/experience you'll need

• Proven experience in store planning, interiors design and/or a design practice.

Desirable skills/experience you may have

• A detailed understanding of how customers shop and engage in retail spaces
• Knowledge and ability to use Revit, 3DS Max and V-ray
• Educated to degree level in a design/ architectural field
• Experience working with brands
