Job summary

Reed is recruiting a Stock Controller for our busy food manufacturing operation in Central Scotland. You will own stock control activities, purchasing administration and maintain inventory accuracy across the business, combining office-based tasks with hands-on stock management.

The role requires experience in stock control, inventory management and supplier relationships, with strong attention to detail, good organisation and proactive problem solving.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in Stock Control or Inventory Management.
  • Experience in manufacturing or FMCG industry.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain basics.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Proactive and dependable approach to work.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate stock records across multiple locations.
  • Conduct regular stock counts and inventory checks.
  • Process stock movements and update stock system.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure availability.
  • Purchase packaging and raw materials from approved suppliers.
  • Review supplier invoices and resolve discrepancies.
  • Liaise with suppliers on deliveries, shortages, quality concerns.
  • Support sourcing of ingredients and packaging with internal teams.
  • Investigate stock variances and implement corrective actions.
  • Promote and maintain health and safety standards.

Stock Controller

Location: Central Scotland
Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 depending on experience
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent,Monday to FridayRole
Working Arrangement: Onsite

About the Role

We are recruiting for a Stock Controller to join a busy food manufacturing operation. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and detail-focused individual to take ownership of stock control activities, purchasing administration, and inventory accuracy across the business.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring materials are available when required, stock records remain accurate, and supplier relationships are effectively managed. The role combines office-based administration with hands-on stock management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate stock records across multiple storage locations.
  • Conduct regular stock counts and inventory checks.
  • Process stock movements and update the internal stock management system.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure sufficient stock availability.
  • Purchase packaging and raw materials from approved suppliers.
  • Review supplier invoices and resolve any pricing or quantity discrepancies.
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding deliveries, shortages, quality concerns, and other supply issues.
  • Support the sourcing of new ingredients and packaging solutions alongside internal teams.
  • Investigate stock variances and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Ensure stock is stored safely and in line with company standards.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support internal audits and customer compliance requirements.
  • Promote and maintain high health and safety standards.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience in Stock Control, Inventory Management, Purchasing, or a similar position.
  • Experience within a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Good understanding of supply chain and stock management principles.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective supplier relationships.
  • A proactive and dependable approach to work.
