Job summary

Associated Seafoods is hiring a Stock Control Operative to join a fast-paced food manufacturing team. You will receive, store and issue raw materials, conduct quality checks and help maintain stock integrity across chilled environments.

The role involves manual handling in a production setting, adherence to hygiene standards, and collaboration with multiple departments to support efficient production.

Qualifications

  • Experience in GMP, food hygiene, and health & safety practices.
  • Knowledge of allergen control, CCP, and listeria awareness (training can be provided).
  • Previous experience in food production, stock control, or warehouse environments is a plus, but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, check and book in raw materials and ingredients using stock control systems.
  • Carry out quality and temperature checks on incoming deliveries and report non-conforming goods.
  • Manage storage of materials in chilled areas with accurate labelling and temperature control.
  • Issue materials to production teams in a timely and controlled manner, supporting stock rotation.
  • Assist with stock decanting and defrosting, preparing ingredients for production as required.
  • Monitor stock levels and complete regular stock counts (daily, weekly, monthly).
  • Keep storage areas clean, well-organised, and compliant with hygiene and food safety standards.
  • Complete records such as concession logs and disposal forms with accuracy.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments, e.g. Technical or Planning teams.
  • Support training of new or temporary team members.
  • Take part in audits as required and follow site health, safety, and food hygiene procedures.

Hours of Work: Full-time; 40 hours per week, flexibility required

04:30-13:00 Monday to Friday, and one Sunday every 4 weeks on a rotational basis

Pay: Competitive, depending on entry-level skills and/or experience

Job Overview

We're looking for a reliable and proactive Stock Control Operative to join our busy operations team within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring raw materials and ingredients are accurately received, stored, moved, and supplied to production in line with quality and traceability standards. You'll work closely with other departments across the site to maintain stock integrity, minimise waste, and support efficient production.

Main Responsibilities

  • Issue materials to production teams in a timely and controlled manner, supporting effective stock rotation

  • Monitor stock levels and complete regular stock counts (daily, weekly, and monthly)
  • Keep all storage areas clean, well-organised, and compliant with hygiene and food safety standards
  • Complete records such as concession logs and disposal forms with accuracy
  • Communicate effectively with other departments, e.g. Technical or Planning teams
  • Support training of new or temporary team members
  • Take part in internal and customer audits as required
  • Carry out additional duties as and when required by your line manager
  • Follow all site health, safety, and food hygiene procedures

This is a physically active role that involves working in chilled environments and includes manual handling tasks. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided.
