Job summary

Johnson & Johnson–DePuy Synthes in Leeds offers a 12-month non-LDP Intern/Co-Op in the Quality/Sterility Assurance area. You’ll work with scientists, engineers and production teams, gaining hands-on experience across the full product lifecycle from design through terminal sterilization.

You’ll be mentored throughout the year, tackle real projects, and may visit the Blackpool facility to broaden your experience and network, with an assessment centre planned for January 2027.

Qualifications

• Degree in Medical Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, Microbiology, Bioengineering, or a related field with a 2:1 or above.
• Curious, proactive mindset with genuine interest in healthcare and medical technology.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with critical thinking.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Keen eye for detail and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Support design engineers to develop instrumentation meeting cleaning and sterilization requirements.
• Support Sterility Assurance Sterilization/Contamination Control Programme.
• Perform tests to ensure on-site products are clean and sterile (water testing and environmental monitoring in ISO Class 8 cleanrooms).
• Work with vendors and external laboratories.
• Collaborate with global teams across the USA and Ireland to implement new ideas, protocols, and processes.
