Job summary

GSK Barnard Castle is recruiting for Manufacturing Operator roles within the Sterile Production Team, with potential placement as Aseptic Operator or Manufacturing Operator depending on skills and business needs. You will work a 24/7 shift pattern and contribute to manufacturing biopharmaceuticals, aseptic operations, and supporting filling operations, while adhering to GMP and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) or relevant pharmaceutical manufacturing experience.
  • Experience working within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using digital systems and platforms.
  • Experience working in a GMP environment and understanding its importance.
  • Experience troubleshooting operational issues and contributing to continuous improvement activities.
  • The flexibility and willingness to work the defined shift patterns.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacturing biopharmaceuticals and oligonucleotides using disposable technologies.
  • Dispensing materials and preparing manufacturing materials.
  • Performing analytical testing and measurements (pH, density, osmolarity).
  • Working with MSAT, Engineering, Quality, Microbiology and R&D to support operations.

Successful applicants will join our Sterile Production Team and may be appointed into either an Aseptic Operator or Manufacturing Operator position depending on skills, experience and business requirements.

You will be required to work a 24/7 shift pattern.

In this role you will…

Manufacturing Operations:
  • Manufacturing biopharmaceuticals and oligonucleotides using disposable technologies.
  • Dispensing buffer excipients and preparing manufacturing materials.
  • Performing analytical testing, including pH, density and osmolarity measurements.
  • Receiving, handling and removing materials from controlled temperature storage areas.
  • Manufacturing multiple products, including new product introductions at various lifecycle stages.
  • Supporting filling operations, including component processing, finished product processing and in-process control checks.
Aseptic Operations:
  • Qualifying and maintaining a sterile operating licence.
  • Setting up and operating aseptic filling isolators.
  • Performing glove integrity testing, machine cleaning, machine builds and VHP cycles.
  • Conducting sterile interventions, environmental monitoring and sterile transfers.
  • Operating sterile interfaces including ISS and RTP/IDC ports.
  • Performing filter integrity testing, including PUPSIT and PUIT where applicable.
  • Working within cleanroom environments while demonstrating excellent aseptic behaviours.
General Responsibilities:
  • Using digital manufacturing and automation systems such as MES, PCS7 and other site systems.
  • Preparing equipment and components through parts washing and autoclaving processes.
  • Completing documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams including MSAT, Engineering, Quality, Microbiology and R&D.
  • Participating in troubleshooting activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrating the GSK values of Transparency, Respect, Integrity and Patient Focus.
  • Meeting expectations of teamwork, accountability, development and courage.
Why you?
Basic Qualifications & Skills:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) or relevant pharmaceutical manufacturing experience.
  • Experience working within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using digital systems and platforms.
  • Experience working in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment and understanding its importance.
  • Experience troubleshooting operational issues and contributing to continuous improvement activities.
  • The flexibility and willingness to work the defined shift patterns.
Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Previous sterile manufacturing experience.
  • Previous aseptic isolator experience.
  • Current or previous sterile area licence holder.
  • Experience working in cleanroom environments.
  • Experience supporting sterile filling operations.
