STEM Programme Manager

Location: Caterham, Surrey | Hybrid working – 1 day from home per week Salary: £35,000–£38,000 depending on experience Hours: Full-time/permanent, 37.5 hours per week

Are you an organised, people-focused Programme Manager who is skilled in high quality programme delivery, developing teams and making a positive difference?

We’re working with an inspiring creative learning charity that is passionate about making education more inclusive and giving every child the opportunity to thrive. They are looking for a STEM Programme Manager to lead the delivery and continued development of an exciting, hands‑on science education programme supporting over 2,800 primary school children across England.

This is a fantastic opportunity to combine team leadership, programme management and relationship building in a role where your work will have a meaningful impact on children's learning and confidence.

The opportunity:

The STEM programme provides primary schools with free, inclusive and interactive science learning experiences, including specialist equipment, engaging educational resources and practical experiments aligned with the National Curriculum.

As STEM Programme Manager, you’ll take ownership of the smooth running and ongoing delivery of the programme, ensuring schools receive a consistently high-quality experience. You’ll lead a growing team, build strong partnerships with schools, oversee resources and budgets, and measure the programme’s impact.

Initially, you’ll also take a hands‑on approach to managing one of the programme strands, giving you valuable insight into day-to-day operations and school delivery.

What will you be doing?
  • Leading and developing the team: Manage, motivate and support a growing programme team, setting clear objectives, providing guidance and encouraging professional development.
  • Building school partnerships: Develop strong relationships with Science Leads at existing partner primary schools, coordinate new school onboarding and oversee teacher training and engagement.
  • Maintaining high standards: Ensure the quality and consistency of programme delivery, educational resources and teacher materials, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Managing budgets and resources: Oversee programme expenditure, budgeting, forecasting, procurement and the production and distribution of educational materials.
  • Measuring impact: Monitor programme outcomes, oversee data collection and evaluation, and lead the preparation of quarterly reports and the annual impact report.
  • Driving programme organisation: Work closely with senior colleagues to refine the programme where needed, ensuring it continues to meet the needs of schools and pupils.

Travel to partner schools across England will be required during the initial hands‑on phase, including occasional overnight stays. There may also be occasional travel as the programme develops.

What we are looking for:

We are keen to hear from candidates who are confident managing people and coordinating complex programmes, and who take pride in delivering work to a consistently high standard.

You’ll ideally bring:
  • Experience managing or leading a team, including setting objectives and supporting development.
  • A background in coordinating educational programmes, projects or multiple workstreams.
  • Strong organisational, planning and prioritisation skills, with the ability to keep competing deadlines on track.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to work with schools, colleagues and external partners.
  • Experience monitoring quality, using data to measure outcomes and producing reports.
  • A proactive, practical approach to problem-solving, with the flexibility to adapt when plans change.
  • An understanding of primary education and the challenges faced by schools.
  • A collaborative working style and a genuine commitment to inclusive education and helping children reach their potential.
  • A full driving licence and willingness to travel to partner schools.

Experience in STEM education, the charity sector or a not-for-profit organisation would be advantageous, but we’re particularly interested in candidates with strong programme management and leadership skills who are passionate about the purpose of the role.

Interested?

If you’re a strong programme manager who enjoys leading people, building partnerships and delivering meaningful projects, we would love to hear from you.

Application deadline: Sunday 1 November 2026, at 11.59pm.

Interview dates: First interviews w/c 16 November 2026; second interviews w/c 23 November 2026.

Ideal start date: Monday 4 January 2027.
