EDF Energy is offering a STEM Industrial Placement starting salary of £26,050, beginning in early September 2027. The role is on-site at the Hinkley Point C construction site or Satellite Delivery Centre in Bridgwater, with mentors and a focus on practical learning within a major energy project.

You will gain hands-on experience, contributing to technical problem‑solving, project coordination and stakeholder engagement while developing skills in a live construction and operation environment.

Qualifications

• Studying towards, or have completed, a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics.
• Eligible for UK Security Vetting with UK residency in the past 3 of 5 years.

The Opportunity

This STEM Industrial Placement is expected to begin in early September 2027 and offers a starting salary of £26,050, with the opportunity to work at the Hinkley Point C construction site or Satellite Delivery Centre in #Bridgwater.

What You'll Experience

Being part of Hinkley Point C means helping to shape the future of low‑carbon energy. You'll contribute to a project that will provide clean electricity for millions of homes while supporting the UK's energy security.

During your STEM Industrial Placement, you'll be immersed in practical learning and supported by mentors and collaborative teams. You'll contribute to real projects, gain exposure to major programme delivery and develop valuable skills in technical problem‑solving, project coordination and stakeholder engagement.

You’ll also contribute to safety improvement campaigns, radiation protection strategies and condition monitoring programmes while applying your academic knowledge to real industry challenges. Depending on your placement, you'll support Nuclear Operations and the installation of the Primary Circuit at Hinkley Point C, working closely with construction, quality, HSE, environmental and commercial teams while gaining experience with project reporting, digital tools and operational improvement activities.

Your Work Location

You’ll be based at the #Bridgwater Hinkley Point C construction site (transport to the Hinkley Point C site is provided from several collection points) or Satellite Delivery Centre, where you'll be part of a team driving progress on one of the UK's most significant energy projects.

As this is an on‑site placement, you'll gain first‑hand experience of a live construction and operational environment while working closely with multidisciplinary teams delivering key project milestones.

Who You Are

To be eligible for this EDF Industrial Placement, you need to be studying towards, or have already achieved, a bachelor's or postgraduate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a closely related discipline. You'll have an interest in innovation, technology and the future of low‑carbon energy.

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.
