STEM Academic Coach

Do you have a STEM degree and want classroom experience before moving into teacher training?

Could you use your subject knowledge to deliver high-impact support across science, technology, engineering and maths?

  • STEM Academic Coach
  • Immediate start until July 2026
  • £80 - £100 per day
  • School location: Ward of Yardley
  • 1:1 and small group support across STEM subjects
The Role

As a STEM Academic Coach, you’ll deliver structured 1:1 and small-group sessions to close learning gaps and build confidence. You’ll run catch‑up interventions, reinforce core concepts, prepare simple resources, and support exam practice. You’ll track progress, share feedback with teachers, and help pupils apply theory to problem‑solving and practical tasks.

The Candidate

You hold a STEM‑related degree, communicate clearly, and explain complex ideas in simple steps. You’re organised, reliable, and keen to develop classroom skills ahead of teacher training. You build rapport quickly and keep sessions purposeful and calm.

Requirements
  • Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
  • Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
  • Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
  • Desire to work in education/with children – A genuine interest in supporting student progress.
  • Experience working with children – Any relevant experience such as tutoring, mentoring, or volunteering is desirable but not essential.
