We’re seeking individuals with a good academic background, strong people and organisation skills and a passion for changing the world. From your very first week, you’ll tackle real-world challenges that make a difference in our communities and industries. You will be expected to deliver the full range of consultancy work and develop your consultancy skills through a combination of on-the-job learning as well as a structured development and mentoring programme.

We are looking for gifted, motivated individuals to join us. If you are considering your future and are looking for somewhere to make a real difference, Steer has much to offer you.

What we offer

Throughout your first 18 months with us, you will collaborate with our team of industry experts to address some of the most complex problems in the sectors we operate in. You will experience:

  • A tailored programme that provides you with the skills needed for a successful career in consultancy. This is delivered through a blend of formal classroom training, engaging induction sessions, and on the job learning opportunities. Over the 18-month programme, you’ll complete three rotations, working with different teams and on a variety of projects. This approach ensures you develop a wide-ranging consultancy skillset, build strong internal networks, and gain a comprehensive understanding of our business.
  • mentoring from senior colleagues who will work with you to develop your skills
  • a dedicated ‘buddy’ who will help you settle into life at Steer
  • a career development manager and programme sponsor who supports your cohort throughout the programme and your professional development through career coaching and career progression at Steer

Applicants should be educated to degree level (having obtained, or on track to achieve at least 2:1 or equivalent) with all subjects considered, preferably with a quantification or research element included, although this isn’t essential.

A note on how we use AI at Steer

AI supports elements of our work only where it is suitable to use it and it is used with care ensuring bias or inaccuracies are not introduced and when permitted by clients. Even then, human judgement, analysis and accountability are key. We expect the same approach from our applicants; AI may support your preparation, but you must keep yourself in the process, and accountable.

What you can do

You are welcome to prepare thoroughly before applying or completing any assessments. This includes reviewing instructions, practising sample questions and refreshing your knowledge.

You may also use AI if you wish to help you think more clearly about your CV or preparation. For example, to check structure, wording or tailoring. What matters is that you remain the author. AI can help you to articulate your experience, but it must not invent it. We will explore your CV and examples in detail in interviews.

What you must not do

To protect the integrity of the process, the following are not permitted:

  • Using AI to generate your CV, your answers or any assessment responses
  • Getting help from another person during assessments
  • Submitting material that isn’t your own work

Using outside assistance, including generative AI to complete assessments will result in disqualification and removal from the recruitment process.

If you require any reasonable adjustments to support accessibility, please let us know so we can support you appropriately.
