Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Steel Pans Coach to join our vibrant secondary school community. This is a fantastic opportunity to inspire young people and develop their skills in steel pan performance. If you are a dynamic musician with a love for sharing your skills, we would love to hear from you.

We are an ‘Outstanding’ (Ofsted 2023) secondary academy, established in 2018 to provide an excellent education for children in Wimbledon. Two years after opening, we moved into a brand‑new building that is modern, bright and equipped with state‑of‑the‑art facilities across the curriculum. We are oversubscribed and fortunate to have a strong community support with waiting lists for every year group.

Responsibilities
  • Lead engaging steel pan sessions for students across a range of ages and abilities.
  • Prepare and rehearse ensembles for school concerts and community events.
  • Motivate and support students to enjoy music‑making and build confidence.
  • Work flexibly with the music department to deliver high‑quality provision.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Proven experience teaching or coaching steel pans, ideally with young people in an educational setting.
  • Holds a recognised music or teaching qualification (or has equivalent professional experience).
  • Passionate about music education and able to inspire learners.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Reliable, flexible and committed to supporting the ethos of our school.
