Job description
Responsibilities
  • Support the Principal Engineer – Numerical Modelling with the development of the Stealth Engineering CFD capability.
  • Run and interpret CFD simulations to assess fluid dynamics and their impact on acoustic and non-acoustic signatures.
  • Support concept development, design iterations, and verification activities using commercial CFD tools.
  • Prepare technical reports and present findings to internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Work closely with engineers from other disciplines to integrate CFD insights into whole‑platform solutions.
  • Assist in the development of testing strategies and experimental validation where appropriate.
Qualifications
  • Degree in a STEM discipline, such as Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Physics, or Mathematics.
  • Experience using CFD software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, or OpenFOAM).
  • Strong understanding of fluid mechanics.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate multi‑layered data clearly.
  • Self‑motivated approach.
Desirable Skills
  • Knowledge of acoustics and signal processing.
  • Experience in predicting flow‑generated noise.
  • Experience in volume‑of‑fluid (VOF) methods and/or direct numerical simulation (DNS, DES, LES, IDDES).
About the role

From early concept work to full platform assessment, you’ll contribute across the entire submarine lifecycle. This role offers hands‑on experience with high‑performance computing (HPC) systems and advanced CFD tools. You’ll work at the forefront of stealth innovation, contributing directly to the design and performance of future submarine platforms. We offer relocation support across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
