Statistical Science Lead

Location and Working Environment

HYBRID – requires onsite presence one day per quarter in the Surrey, Addlestone office.

Purpose & Scope
  • The primary purpose is to serve as an independent statistical leader within cross‑functional teams, acting as Study Statistician, Medical Affairs Statistician, Exploratory Statistician, Regional Statistical Lead, or Lead Product Statistician for complex or novel work across established clinical development areas.
  • The role may also function as Global Statistical Lead for an early‑stage or backup asset, or as a methodology expert responsible for validating and guiding the execution of advanced statistical techniques.
  • This role targets Associate Director or Director level candidates with significant clinical development experience within the pharmaceutical industry; oncology experience is mandatory.
Role and Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic statistical input to asset teams, including design of studies and advanced analyses.
  • Execute biomarker and PK/PD strategies, lead large/complex studies or support marketed products.
  • Contribute to regulatory and payer dossiers and publications by providing statistical interpretation.
  • Present summary data and analyses to key stakeholders in a clear manner.
  • Ensure availability of biomarker, external data, and integrated databases, and plan and conduct integrated analyses to support decisions, submissions or marketing needs.
  • Participate in due diligence activities, review data, and advise the company.
  • Recognize and address issues impacting statistical integrity or where novel methodology may add value.
  • Contribute to cross‑functional or indication‑level improvement initiatives, including SOP development and software selection.
  • Contribute to recruitment, training, professional development and retention of statistical personnel.
  • Represent the organization in external industry or professional organizations and develop relationships with academic institutions.
Required Qualifications
  • PhD or M.S. in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related scientific field.
  • Extensive experience applying statistical methods in biomedical research, pharma, CRO, academia or healthcare industry, including statistical direction.
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical methods and industry practices for clinical and biomarker data.
  • Proficiency in SAS; knowledge of R is preferred.
  • In‑depth familiarity with data management and programming procedures.
  • Experience working in an international environment.
  • Good knowledge of medical literature, clinical, regulatory and commercial landscape.
  • Ability to understand, implement, and explain complex statistical methodology.
