Job Description

Equans is looking for a Static Mechanical Engineer to join our team on the HMCTS contract. You will be based onsite at the Royal Courts of Justice. This is a full‑time permanent role (40 hours per week) with a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on mechanical assets such as HVAC, pumps, and valves.
  • Conduct legionella control and monitoring activities.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out remedial works independently.
  • Maintain accurate records on CAFM systems (e.g. TotalMobile).
  • Supervise subcontractors and ensure compliance with safe systems of work, including permits to work.
  • Participate in emergency response and out-of-hours cover as part of a rota.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, including proper use of PPE and adherence to Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
  • Maintain compliance with BS7671 standards for relevant works.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, contractors, and clients.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Previous experience in a similar Facilities Management role.
  • NVQ Level 2 or higher in Mechanical Engineering Services (City & Guilds or equivalent).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain BPSS and CTC clearance (required for specific sites).
  • Strong fault‑finding, diagnostic and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience with CAFM systems and maintenance documentation.
  • Awareness of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.

Desirable (but not essential)

  • IPAF / PASMA certification.
  • Technical Appointments such as CP – Mechanical or Pressure Systems (CPMPS).
  • Experience working in secure or public sector environments.
