A leading water company in the United Kingdom is looking for a Standards and Compliance Specialist. This role is key in ensuring compliance with regulations and involves creating SOPs, risk assessments, and training. Candidates should have experience in continuous improvement and strong analytical skills to drive quality and performance standards. The job offers a competitive salary and benefits including an annual bonus scheme, a leading pension scheme, and dedicated training opportunities.
At Severn Trent, we're embarking on an exciting £415m project to replace 870 miles of old water pipes across the Midlands – and we want you to be part of it. This is the biggest investment in water infrastructure in the region in a decade and it is set to improve water quality, reduce leaks and make the water supply more reliable for millions of people. The new pipes we are installing will last up to 100 years. To bring this vision to life, we are creating new jobs across the region with roles based in Birmingham, Nottingham or anywhere in between. We are looking for a Standards and Compliance Specialist to join our team and be responsible for creating and embedding SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), SSOWs (Safe Systems of Work), risk assessments for operations, equipment and processes across the mains renewal structure.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of current processes for SOPs and SSOWs, with the ability to challenge constructively and drive improvements in performance and quality. Experience in a role involving continuous improvement is essential, along with the ability to differentiate between good and bad operational practices and understand their impact on standards. Strong analytical skills are required to identify underlying causes from significant amounts of data, and excellent communication skills are necessary to convey messages to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The candidate should have a working knowledge of structures, responsibilities, and key internal stakeholders, and be able to prioritise and balance a reactive workload with challenging turnaround times. Logical thought processes to resolve complex issues and influencing and negotiating skills to ensure the delivery of key activities are also important. Additionally, the candidate should possess strong problem‑solving skills, excellent communication skills to interact with a wide range of stakeholders, and the ability to effectively organise and prioritise workload.
