Ably is seeking a Staff Tech Lead for Developer Experience to co‑own the DevEx vision and drive the engineering strategy for customer‑facing web platforms, including dashboards, docs, and billing UI. You’ll mentor a five‑engineer team, blending full‑stack expertise with a product mindset to enhance the developer journey.

Qualifications

• Real, demonstrable experience leading AI‑first engineering teams.
• Extensive experience leading technical teams in technical B2B SaaS or API‑first products.
• Strong software engineering background with genuine full‑stack fluency.
• Hands‑on experience with React and TypeScript; depth matters more than framework.
• Empathy for developer customers; understanding API design and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Obsess over developer experience and elevate Ably’s platform for users and developers.
• Define and lead on AI‑first working practices across the team and tooling.
• Lead a team of five engineers, owning architecture for dashboard, docs platform, marketing site and billing UI.
• Foster a product‑minded engineering culture with ownership of features and outcomes.
• Work in a fast iteration environment with PMs, customers and engineers to ship improvements.
• Set high standards for code review, testing and production readiness; participate in incidents.
• Mentor and grow the team, manage performance, career development and hiring.
