Job summary

Wireless Logic in the United Kingdom is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the Interstellar Squad and shape a billing platform with TypeScript-based services. You will modernise a mature system using a strangler-fig approach while ensuring correctness and scalability.

You will mentor engineers, set engineering standards, and collaborate with Product and Delivery to shape roadmaps. The role involves travel to Poland quarterly within a hybrid UK-based setup.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading the technical direction of a squad or product area.
• Backend expertise with a modern, strongly-typed stack — Node.js / NestJS / TypeScript and/or PHP 8.x / Symfony.
• Experience modernising or decomposing a mature monolithic system using strangler-fig, anti-corruption layers and incremental cut-overs.
• Strong background in distributed systems and event-driven processing (RabbitMQ, Kafka, SQS).

Responsibilities

• Set and communicate a clear technical vision for the squad’s services.
• Lead the decomposition of a mature platform into TypeScript/Node domain services using a strangler-fig pattern.
• Define and uphold engineering standards for code quality, testing, observability, and operational readiness.
• Own complex technical decisions end-to-end and document trade-offs.
• Drive architecture for distributed, data-intensive billing workflows.
• Lead design and implementation of SLIs/SLOs and oversee health in production.
• Guide CI/CD and delivery practices
• Raise the bar on code reviews and coach engineers to improve.
• Mentor engineers and develop growth paths.
