Job summary

Checkout.com in London is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Payments Performance pillar. You will lead technical direction across multiple teams, shaping architecture for high-throughput, low-latency systems at global scale.

You will mentor engineers, drive best practices, and collaborate with Data Science, Platform and ML teams to deliver impactful experimentation and optimization solutions. Hybrid work model available.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building and scaling cloud-based distributed systems (AWS).
• Excellent Go programming skills with low-latency backend design understanding.
• Experience with experimentation systems or feature-flag infrastructures.
• Strong coaching, mentorship and collaboration to improve engineering standards.

Responsibilities

• Define long-term technical direction for the Experimentation and Optimisation platform for scalability and impact.
• Collaborate with Data Science, Platform and ML Engineering teams to shape what we build, not just how.
• Mentor engineering teams and drive engineering standards and best practices across the pillar.
