The Oncology Clinical Service Unit has 9 in‑patient wards and is recruiting posts on J84, J88, J89 and J93. The wards operate 24 hours a day with night shifts. Full- time and part‑time positions are available.
As a Band 5 Staff Nurse, you will play a key role in delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care to patients with complex care needs. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating evidence‑based nursing care, supporting patients through their treatment, and working closely with the multidisciplinary team to contribute to holistic care, discharge planning and patient education.

You will work as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team to deliver direct and indirect care to patients. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care to the highest standards, lead and support a team of Clinical Support Workers and apprentices on a shift‑by‑shift basis, act as a role model, participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives and staff education, and collaborate with other health professionals to ensure safe, effective and patient‑focused care.

The role is to provide and be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised programmes of care. You will deliver care without supervision and take responsibility as the prime care provider for a group of patients, promote confidence in our commitment to excellent compassionate care, and take charge of the ward or department as necessary in the absence of the Sister or Charge Nurse. You will participate in in‑service training, preceptorship and mentorship of junior staff, maintain your personal development and work within an environment caring for adult patients.
