Job summary

Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a part-time Staff Nurse for Ward 10, a 22-bed Trauma and Orthopaedic unit. The role requires rotating between day and night shifts, including weekends and bank holidays as required.

Candidates should be compassionate, motivated and able to communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care within a busy acute setting.

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered nurse to join our friendly and developing team on Ward 10. We can offer part time hours, however the candidate needs to be prepared to rotate between days/ nights including weekend and bank holiday working when required.

Ward 10 is a 22 bedded Trauma and Orthopaedic ward specialising in acute trauma.

We currently have a vacancy for a part time band 5 Nurse who takes pride in delivering quality and compassionate care.

We are looking for positive, motivated and caring nurses with a keen interest Orthopaedic nursing. Having a positive team culture is essential in ensuring the efficient running of the unit and ensuring positive experiences and outcomes for patients.

This requires excellent communication between the multidisciplinary team and the nursing team. As such this role needs individuals with great communications skills, who are adaptable, work well under pressure and who are excellent team players.

Main duties of the job

• Take responsibility for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of the nursing care for a named caseload of patients, including their property and valuables.
• Assist in creating a therapeutic environment which meets the needs of patients, relatives and carers.
• Adhere to Wirral Hospital objectives, policies, protocols and guidelines.
• Liaise with other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Contribute to promoting a critical, analytical approach to the delivery of care and implementation of change.
• Participate in audits.
• Continuously update own skills and knowledge and maintain awareness of clinical issues.
• In the absence of the Ward/Departmental Manager or their deputy, act as shift coordinator.
• Act as a preceptor, Practice Assessor/Supervisor and/or NVQ assessor to junior staff and students.
• Supervise and lead a team of junior staff.
• Undertake appraisals of staff within the team.
• Contribute to meeting the agreed objectives for the Ward/Department.
• Be aware of and adhere to national, local and professional policies, protocols and guidelines.
• Ensure effective communication with Patients , families , peers promoting safe patient care and good patient experience.
