Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team in Surgical SDEC.

Surgical same day emergency care (SDEC) unit provides a specialised service for rapid assessment and treatment of a variety of surgical conditions.

The unit provides a dedicated space to access and commence treatment of acute surgical presentations from A&E, GP referrals and follow up patients who can be safely discharged after initial assessment and treatment.

The successful candidates will be expected to provide a high standard of care, have excellent communication skills and be able to effectively respond to changing situations.

We work within a multi-disciplinary team promoting independence and patient centred care, implementing realistic individualised goals to allow proactive discharge planning.

All new staff are supported and there are many learning opportunities and training in new skills available. We are looking to recruit full time and part time nurses. If you are up for the challenge please apply

Main duties of the job
  • Actively manage an effective caseload
  • Maintain accurate and up to date clinical records in line with the trust/NMC standards of practice.
  • To promote multi-disciplinary patient centred care and take responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care primarily under the supervision of the senior nurse or ACP.
  • In the absence of the senior members, take charge of the unit
  • To undertake any other duties required by the line manager appropriate to grade and relevant to the post
