As a flexible working friendly organisation, we want to be sure that you can work in a way that is best for us and for our patients, and for you. Speak to us about how we might be able to accommodate a flexible working arrangement whether that's job share, part time or another flexible pattern. In addition, although the role advertised may have a 'home' office base indicated, we remain committed to supporting flexibility around workplace locations. If it works for the service, we will do our best to make it work for you.

The successful applicant will be an NHS employee and may therefore have contact with vulnerable service users. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been necessary to take significant steps to protect the health and safety of our staff, service users and those attending our sites. Unless exempt, we encourage and support staff to be vaccinated as this remains the best line of defence against COVID-19.

About the Role

We’re looking for a dedicated and motivated Registered Nurse to join our friendly ward team at Stratton Community Hospital. You will play a key role in delivering excellent rehabilitative and nursing care to our predominantly elderly patients, working alongside a supportive multi-disciplinary team that values collaboration, respect and continuous learning. While your base will be at Stratton Community Hospital, we value flexibility – you may occasionally be asked to support neighbouring community hospitals as service needs arise.

Responsibilities
  • Assess care needs and develop and implement programmes of care in the ward setting.
  • Act as a team leader and provide all forms of nursing care without direct supervision.
  • Provide mentorship to pre‑ and post‑registration students and Healthcare Assistants undertaking the National Vocational Awards.
  • Work a rota of early, late and night shifts to provide 24‑hour care, seven days a week.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the ward and the wider service.
  • Provide skilled, compassionate care that promotes independence and dignity.
  • Act as a positive role model, supporting colleagues and students in their professional growth.
