A well-established mental health Trust in Rochdale is hiring a Band 5 Staff Nurse to provide direct care to patients with various mental health disorders. You'll act as the named nurse for a defined patient group, ensuring high standards of care through assessment, planning, and evaluation. This role includes participating in risk assessments and providing mentorship to newly qualified staff. An opportunity has arisen for a band 5 Staff Nurse to join our team at Prospect Place! Prospect Place is a 45-bed unit that opened in 2011 and is based on the site of Birch Hill Hospital in Rochdale.
The unit is for men aged 18 to 65 years, who have a diagnosed psychiatric disorder, for example schizophrenia, and have been detained under the Mental Health Act. Alcohol and drug misuse are often a part of the problems faced by patients. A secure setting may be required to help address challenges around the patient's view of their illness and the vulnerabilities and risks to themselves and others that may result from this.
You will be an integral part of the team providing direct care to patients with a variety of mental health problems. You will act as the named nurse with responsibility for the overall care of an identified group of patients. You will regularly act as shift co‑ordinator ensuring the smooth running of the clinical area and best utilisation of resources available, with support from senior staff.
You will be involved in providing a high level of safe and effective care. Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care, adhere to all Trust policies, procedures and guidelines, and liaise with the multidisciplinary team. Provide mentorship to others.
