Job Summary

Would you like the opportunity to join us as a Band 5 Staff Nurse? If so, Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is recruiting talented, committed individuals who share our vision, values and professional ambition. We currently have a vacancy in the Pre‑Operative Assessment Department:

  • 37.5 hours per week, at the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch.

Countywide working will also be required when necessary to cover clinics. We have a wide range of different clinics offering a good opportunity to learn and give variety to your working week. We are committed to providing flexibility and can offer shift patterns as above, Monday – Friday.

Main duties of the job

Our pre‑op assessments are made through an online system called My Pre‑Op Plus (MPOP). The service provides assessment for a wide variety of surgical procedures across the County, so you will be mentored and supported to learn the role. Ideally you will have pre‑operative assessment experience, but a sound knowledge of both medicine and surgery will also be considered. This is an exciting time to join the service, with many national changes happening and services being re‑configured to meet the healthcare needs of our local communities. The service offers a range of clinics to maximise learning potential and opportunity to gain new skills such as triage, venepuncture and ECG interpretation. You will work closely with the Nursing and Anaesthetic team and be supported to achieve your pre‑operative competencies.
