Job summary

Nuffield Health York Hospital is seeking a Staff Nurse (RN) – Pre-Assessment on a part-time, fixed-term basis for one year. The role is based in York Hospital with 27 hours per week, offering a pro rata salary up to £36,040 per annum depending on experience.

You will be registered with the NMC, bring post-registration experience, be a supportive team player, and contribute to pre-operative assessments and high standards of patient care.

Qualifications

• Registered with the governing body (NMC).
• Post-registration experience in healthcare.
• Participate as part of a close-knit team delivering pre-assessment care.

Responsibilities

• Be part of a matron-led team delivering pre‑assessment care.
• First point of contact to assess patients prior to surgery.
• Demonstrate knowledge to ensure high standards of patient care.
• Support patient and family needs with comfort and reassurance.
• Collaborate with practitioners to maintain continuity of care.

As a Staff Nurse in our York hospital, you’ll be attentive, focused, detail‑oriented and empathetic. You’re registered with the appropriate governing body, and you bring the qualifications and experience relevant to your registration, including NMC. With post‑registration experience, you’re a team player with a passion for exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

• Be part of a close‑knit team delivering matron‑led care in a consultant‑led service
• As the first point of contact, work with leading talent and professionals to make the right assessments for patients prior to their surgery
• Demonstrate a broad knowledge base and assessment skills to ensure patient care
• Fully understand and support the needs of each patient and their family
• Offer comfort and reassurance, providing the highest standards of care
• Build your experience across new practices, equipment and facilities
• Work with practitioners in other areas, understanding that continuity in patient care is key
