A leading hospital in Birmingham is seeking a Band 5 Staff Nurse for the Outpatients department. The role involves ensuring high-quality patient care, supporting clinicians in various clinics, and undertaking specialist wound clinics. Ideal candidates should possess strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient care. The position offers a supportive team environment, flexible working arrangements, and opportunities for professional development.
Working as a Band 5 Staff Nurse in Outpatients you will be expected to ensure a high standard of patient care is delivered in an effective and efficient manner, reflecting the values and ethos of The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
As an autonomous practitioner you will be responsible and accountable for safe, compassionate, person-centred care and for assessing, planning and implementing the care needs of patients attending the outpatient department in conjunction with the wider multidisciplinary team.
As a staff nurse in outpatients, you will be supporting clinicians to manage patients through a variety of orthopaedic clinics, so good communication skills are essential.
You will also undertake specialist nurse-led dressing clinics with the support of the multidisciplinary team providing wound care and the knowledge to promote wound healing, which will be underpinned by attending a wound care course/module at Birmingham City University.
There is an expectation that you will support the patient pathway through our injection suite to ensure smooth admission and safe discharge and you may be in charge of the department in the absence of the Band 6 Sisters so the ability to use your own initiative and make sound clinical judgement is essential.
