Staff Nurse - Maurice Jackson Renal Unit

To provide high quality nursing care within a haemodialysis setting.

Participate in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the care needs for patients with End Stage Renal Failure attending for their haemodialysis treatment.

The post holder will complete renal based competencies upon appointment with the expectation to provide haemodialysis treatment without direct supervision after a 12-month period.

Contribute to the maintenance of an environment conducive to the delivery of high standards of patient care by participating in good communication and relationships between staff, patients, relatives and visitors.

The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust's Renal Services provides haemodialysis for in-patients and out-patients within our main hospital as well as our surrounding satellite units. We currently provide haemodialysis in hospital for both acute and chronic patients.

You will be required to deliver a high standard of care and demonstrate the ability to work autonomously. Applicants should be highly motivated, with excellent communication skills in order to work closely with the multidisciplinary team. Good problem solving and organizational skills are essential.

The successful applicant will be enthusiastic and committed to providing a high quality, patient centered experience. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic renal team, involved in a number of new initiatives.

Job responsibilities

Practice within the NMC Code.

Participate in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient's haemodialysis care, in accordance with agreed policies and procedures.

Liaise with the multi-disciplinary team.

To participate in the rotation programme to our satellite units.

To participate on the on-call rota for the renal unit.

Use evidence-based practice.

Maintain accurate and legible records.

Maintain a pleasant and safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.

Report to senior staff to maintain effective communication.

Act as a positive health educator at all times.

Maintain professional development and attend courses and training as required by the post including mandatory training.

Undertake duties as requested to meet the needs of the service within the limits of the grade.

Adhere to and promote Trust and Directorate policies, procedures and guidelines.
