Job description

Are you a Registered Nurse with an interest in Dermatology who is committed to the delivery of high quality patient care and experience?

This is a Band 5 post with opportunities to develop and progress within the team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, caring, compassionate band 5 nurse with excellent communication and clinical skills to join our busy day treatment department based at St Marys Hospital, Paddington.

Opening hours of the department are between 8am - 5pm, Monday to Friday.

You will be working as part of a small team of specialist dermatology nurses, and will be given training so that you will be able to assess, plan and implement treatments for patients with dermatological conditions including phototherapy, iontophoresis, topical medications and treatments. The role also includes supporting the dermatology consultants' specialist inflammatory dermatoses clinics including patch testing and biopsies.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide specialist nursing care and advice to support and facilitate high quality nursing care to patients/clients and relatives/carers with supervision in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team in line with local and national targets.
  • The post-holder will work in the Dermatology Day Centre where patients are treated with Ultra-violet Therapy for a variety of conditions. This will involve supporting the senior staff and working together to ensure its efficient day to day running.
  • To develop and undertake learning towards becoming a clinical expert in dermatology nursing. To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and to provide cover to any area specified, acting as a professional role model providing direct and indirect clinical care.
