Job description

We are looking for a Staff Nurse for a 9 month fixed term/secondment in the Ambulatory Surgical Hub/Surgical SDEC.

If you are looking for a role to gain experience in a multi-disciplinary, fast paced unit, a role that will develop your leadership and management skills, then this secondment may be right for you.

Clinical and Professional Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care utilising research findings as appropriate.
  • Ensure all care is provided in accordance with Croydon Health Services NHS Trust Policies.
  • Create and maintain legible and accurate records of care in accordance with Trust and departmental policy and procedures.
  • Participate in induction and orientation programmes for new staff to ensure a welcoming environment.
  • Identify suitable teaching opportunities/requirements and undertake practical teaching and supervision of learners and others as delegated.
  • Work with other disciplines and professions for the welfare of patients.
  • Maintain, update and develop personal and professional knowledge and skills, using the Trust’s Performance Review System, enabling standards of patient care to be constantly monitored and improved.
  • Maintain a personal, professional profile, identifying role and skill developments.
  • Admit & prepare patients for clinical/operative procedures.
  • Provide assistance in clinical procedures under local within the Surgical SDEC.
  • Review and pull suitable patients from A&E to Surgical SDEC.
  • Provide immediate post-operative care.
  • Carry out wound care and dressing changes as required.
  • Provide initial emergency care as required.
