Job description
Overview

Are you a Band 5 Nurse ready for an exciting new chapter? If you're passionate about making a tangible impact alongside remarkable people in a "great" workplace, we want to hear from you.

Join our Children’s Community Nursing Team (CCNT) in Oldham on an 12‑month fixed‑term contract to cover band 5 back fill. This is your chance to be part of a dynamic team responsible for providing essential care closer to home for babies, children, and young people facing various health challenges—from short‑term illnesses to long‑term complex conditions and end‑of‑life care.

As a valued member of our team, you will collaborate with local partners, including community, acute, and tertiary care providers, as well as local authorities and volunteer organisations. You’ll be instrumental in delivering holistic, family‑centred care, making a difference in the lives of those we serve.

Don’t worry if you’re new to community nursing; we are eager to support your development and growth. Located at the Integrated Care Centre in Oldham, you’ll experience a welcoming environment brimming with learning opportunities.

If you’re ready to embrace a rewarding challenge and build lasting relationships while caring for children in need, come join us and be part of something extraordinary.

Join us in delivering exceptional, evidence‑based care to children in the comfort of their own homes and community settings! As part of our dedicated team, you will partner with parents and caregivers to provide tailored support for every child’s unique needs.

Responsibilities

In this dynamic role, you’ll monitor and recognise acute illness exacerbation, support with long‑term complex conditions, initiate critical nursing interventions, and collaborate closely with senior clinicians for optimal care. Your expertise will help shape individualised care programs through ongoing assessment and evaluation, ensuring effective communication with multidisciplinary teams.

You'll empower children on their journey to self‑care, guiding them toward healthier lifestyles while educating parents and caregivers about health promotion and specific clinical needs.

Additionally, you'll connect community services with children’s inpatient units, facilitating smooth transitions and safe discharges. Your responsibilities will extend to community clinics, outpatient appointments, discharge planning meetings, and safeguarding discussions, ensuring vital information flows seamlessly among all parties.

Throughout your work, you'll maintain accurate, confidential records and embrace technological advancements that enhance care delivery.

Qualifications

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as a Registered Nurse in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC PIN within the next 3 months. Please note an NMC PRN PIN is not a full NMC PIN and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.

The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Nurses who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receive a full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely.

Benefits

By joining us you can also access a competitive benefits package, including a fantastic annual leave allowance, flexible working opportunities and protected hours for health and wellbeing activities, helping you to achieve more personal downtime and a better work‑life balance.
