Band 5 Staff nurse, 24 hours covering maternity leave for 9 months

We are seeking a motivated registered Nurse to join our team.

We are a 28 bedded medical ward caring for patients with a range of acute and chronic conditions.

We’re looking for someone who is highly committed to best practice and be able to work with in a team environment, and have outstanding communication skills.

Main duties of the job

• Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate nursing care, providing the prescribed nursing care without supervision. Contribute to the development and evaluation of nursing practice in the unit.
• Support Patients, and their families, during their diagnosis and treatment
• Liaise with other departments both at WCH and CIC to ensure the safe transfer of the Patients.
• The Trust will provide a twelve month preceptorship period for all newly registered healthcare professionals.
• Healthcare Professionals returning to practice, moving into new roles or changing clinical environments, may access an agreed preceptorship period.

Qualifications

Essential

• Registered Nurse adult with active NMC registration or working towards

Desirable

• ILS or Equivalent
• Relevant post‑registration development or equivalent

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

• Student nurse or general nursing within the NHS or equivalent.

Desirable

• Coronary Care experience.
• Teaching /supporting students experience.
• NIV experience.
