We are recruiting across our sites at Antelope House, Melbury Lodge, Parklands and Elmleigh Hospitals. Our busy wards cater for patients with acute mental health needs, and are designed in conjunction with patients to develop an environment that is supportive for the service users.

Main duties of the job

As a Staff Nurse, the post holder plays a vital role in delivering high-quality mental health care through clinical expertise, leadership, and professional integrity. They will participate in clinical and management supervision, attend developmental training, and occasionally take charge of the ward. Adhering to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct is essential at all times. Under the guidance of the Ward Manager and Nurse Team Leader, the Staff Nurse will foster effective communication and teamwork, report clinical and professional concerns, and assist in managing complaints.

Clinically, the Staff Nurse will assess referred cases, plan and evaluate care for allocated patients, and contribute to ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings. They will ensure safe and effective nursing procedures, including medication management, and uphold patients' rights under the Mental Health Act. Educational responsibilities include supporting research, teaching students and junior staff, supervising clinical placements, and assisting with induction training. In terms of security, the Staff Nurse will implement safety policies and ensure the secure custody of patients in line with their leave status, maintaining vigilance across the unit, grounds, and community.
