A UK healthcare provider is seeking a committed Band 5 nurse to join their Critical Care team in Smethwick. This role offers a chance to enhance nursing skills in a supportive environment, focusing on critical care. Ideal candidates will have excellent clinical competencies, be able to work collaboratively within teams, and will be registered with the NMC. The Critical Care department within the Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust has flexible utilisation of beds to allow for a dynamic flow through the patients Critical Care pathway. Our Midland Metropolitan Hospital opened in 2024 and provides the highest quality acute specialist services in a purpose built facility.
We are looking to recruit a committed and enthusiastic Band 5 nurse to join our team. This post is an excellent opportunity for a nurse to acquire knowledge and skills in the sphere of critical care services. Supported by an enthusiastic and dynamic senior leadership team, the unit is responsive to specialist modernisation programs at local network and national network levels. We offer an established induction programme over 12 months, supported by our practice development team and critical care staff. We also actively encourage your professional and personal development, offering opportunities to access postgraduate education including an Adult Critical Care Nursing Course within the local university.
To co‑ordinate and provide skilled nursing (without direct supervision) to patients, in accordance with responsibilities under the NMC Code of Conduct.
To contribute to the continued development of nursing, including the supervision of junior nurses and support staff.
To work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, internal and external to the organisation, to facilitate holistic seamless care delivery for all Trust patients.
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual programmes of care based on an agreed model of care and in consideration of individual need, maximising opportunities for health promotion and education.
Demonstrate clinical competences of the critically ill patient with supervision until programme of learning completed.
To recognise, review and report patient's/client's condition and any changes to senior members of staff within the multidisciplinary team.
To comply with NMC and local standards for record keeping.
To undertake administration of prescribed medication and supervision of patient's self‑medication. To achieve and maintain competence in administration of intravenous medicines.
