Job summary

Job overview

Millbridge ward is the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust’s acute medical gastroenterology ward. We are a 30 bedded unit with a very varied age range of patients admitted with a vast range of gastroenterology related and general medical conditions. There are 6 monitored beds which allow us to provide a high quality of patient care to those with deteriorating and acute conditions, including bleeding oesophageal varices and other complications arising from liver and inflammatory bowel disease.

Main duties of the job

We work closely with the alcohol liaison team to provide safe and effective support to patients experiencing adverse effects from alcohol withdrawal and long term related conditions. We also work closely with the Nutrition nurses, IBD specialist nurses among others, in order to provide support for patients with their conditions.
Having close links with the University of Surrey facilitates very good opportunities for Nurses to support their clinical development and experience in mentoring student nurses. We also support additional learning and on-going development for staff.
