Join our supportive, nurse-led team at Carlton Court Hospital, Lowestoft. Our three 11-bed inpatient units provide a calm and caring environment for adults with a range of complex physical and mental health needs. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver high-quality, person-centred care that supports dignity, safety, and comfort.
We are looking for Band 5 Staff Nurses who bring clinical confidence, warmth, and professionalism to their role. You will be responsible for assessing, planning and implementing care, administering medication, supervising support staff and students, and helping to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment. The post holder will be part of a team to assess, plan, provide and evaluate nursing care, ensuring it is of the highest quality and patient centered. To work as an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team, supporting colleagues in their role. The post holder will be responsible for delivering high-quality cost-effective evidence based care for patients with highly complex needs.

Carlton Court Hospital is a healthcare facility located in Carlton Colville, Lowestoft, Suffolk (NR33 8AG). The wards provide a range of services, including rehabilitation and support for individuals with complex health needs.
You will be part of a team consisting of band 7 ward manager, band 6 sister/charges nurse, band 5 registered nurse and band 3 clinical support workers who are all trained in a range of skills. Your role will be very physical, providing hands on , patient facing care. You will work alongside both nursing and therapy teams, delivering care so that they can support and respond to the patients needs. This includes all aspects of activities of daily living, with an ethos of rehabilitation to support patients to gain as much independence as possible.

To act as an effective role model to other staff, beingclear about expectations and ensuring that safe patient care is central to allactivities.
To provide complex information to the patients, cliniciansand other agencies to assist in decision-making, using persuasive,motivational, negotiating, training, empathic and re-assurance skills.
Participate in clinical supervision within the team asrequired.
Participate and maintain a learning environment and maximiseopportunities for education and development in the clinical area.
Contribute to the clinical governance agenda throughparticipation in clinical risk assessment and clinical audit.
Contribute to an environment conducive to effective working,respecting and supporting staff to deliver high quality clinical services.
Contribute to change and innovation within the ward.
Work as part of the multidisciplinary team to deliverevidence-based cost-effective care.
Work in collaboration with colleagues to contribute to thedevelopment of care pathways for patients requiring a range of healthcareneeds.
Work with patients towards self-care and independenceutilising health coaching techniques.
Contribute to the review of currentpolicies/protocols/guidelines and the development of clinical pathways andoutcomes for inpatients.
Contribute to supporting evidence to meet the Care QualityCommission (CQC) fundamental standards.
Plan and organise a range of complex clinical activities toensure best practice is delivered to patients in your delegated area ofresponsibility.
Take responsibility for own personal and professionaldevelopment; maintain competence, knowledge and skills commensurate with role.
Be wholly accountable for practice taking every reasonableopportunity to sustain and improve knowledge and professional competence and,ensure all aspects of professional behaviour as required within professionalcode are followed at all times.
Maintain legible, accurate and contemporaneous patientrecords in accordance with ECCH Policy and Nursing and Midwifery Councilstandards for record keeping.
Take responsibility to ensure compliance with Health andSafety Policy, Fire and Environmental Waste Regulations.
Be responsible for understanding, following and implementingECCH policies and procedures.
Ensure own compliance with ECCH risk management systems,proactively identifying risk, reporting and managing risk within area ofresponsibility.
Take responsibility for the cost-effective management andsafe use of clinical equipment.
Contribute to the effective use of resources.
Contribute to the evaluation of training programmes tosupport patients and carers gain the necessary knowledge and skills to maintainindependence.
