A healthcare provider in Ashington is seeking a motivated and registered nurse to join the Pre-Assessment team. The role includes assessing elective patients, coordinating nursing services, and providing specialist training. Candidates should have at least 2 years of NHS post-graduate experience and excellent communication skills. The key role of the successful candidate will be to undertake the pre-assessment of elective patients awaiting surgery under general anaesthetic using specialised history taking and clinical skills following agreed protocols and procedures, assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care as a member of the Pre-Assessment team under the direction of the Department Manager.

We are looking to recruit a motivated and registered nurse with a minimum of 2 years NHS post graduate experience who wishes to progress their career through training within the Pre-Assessment service. The post is based at Wansbeck General Hospital and includes rotational opportunities. It falls within the provisions of Agenda for Change Annex 20 – Development of Professional Roles, whereby upon completion of an agreed set of competencies you may move onto the next pay band without the need for an application for a post at a higher level. The successful candidate will start on a Band 5 and later move up to a Band 6 once all training and competencies have been completed. The successful candidate will need to be dynamic, flexible and proactive in their approach and have excellent communication skills, and be able to work on their own initiative, and as part of a team. The post holder will also have excellent communication, organisational, decision making and PC skills with a good understanding of current Pre-Assessment issues, and will be able to manage their own caseload and deputise in the absence of the clinical lead nurse.
