Staff Engineer - Python

Fully remote within Northern Ireland

Up to £120,000 salary + strong benefits

We're partnered with one of Ocho's most innovative global technology clients as they continue to expand their UK engineering organisation. They are looking for a Staff Engineer specialising in Python to help lead technical direction across a suite of large scale, business critical platforms used internationally.

You’ll work across a modern cloud native environment, collaborating closely with principal engineers, architects and product leaders. This role blends hands on engineering with high level technical influence, giving you ownership of design decisions, system patterns, performance, scalability and engineering standards across multiple teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead large scale Python development across distributed and event driven systems.
• Influence architectural decisions and define long term technical strategy.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams to design scalable cloud based services.
• Drive engineering quality, testing practices and performance optimisation.
• Mentor senior engineers and support capability growth across the organisation.
• Work on complex, high volume systems powering global platforms.

Required experience

• Extensive commercial Python experience at senior, principal or staff level.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices and APIs.
• Experience building cloud native solutions (AWS preferred).
• Knowledge of modern CI/CD, observability and testing frameworks.
• Ability to lead technical discussions and influence engineering direction.
• Comfort working in a remote first, high performance engineering culture.
