Job summary

Syngenta is seeking a Staff Engineer, Cloud Foundations to lead the technical direction of a multi-cloud foundation. You will enable every engineering team to build securely, reliably and with clear cost visibility, partnering with engineering, product and scientific stakeholders on capabilities with real-world impact.

Based in Bracknell, UK, you will accelerate digital capabilities to support sustainable agriculture and scientific innovation, while mentoring teams and setting governance

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience in multi-cloud architecture (AWS and GCP)
• Demonstrable experience in organization-scale Terraform and infrastructure as code
• Demonstrable experience in cloud networking and governance
• Demonstrable experience in FinOps instrumentation and cloud economics
• Demonstrable experience in AI-assisted engineering with rigorous review
• Demonstrable experience in technical leadership without line authority
• Demonstrable experience in platform-as-product mindset
• Demonstrable experience in stakeholder management with hyperscalers
• Demonstrable experience in cloud security standards, compliance frameworks and governance policy development

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-cloud architecture direction (AWS & GCP)
• Own organization-scale Terraform / IaC strategy

What You’ll Do

• Lead and apply deep expertise in multi-cloud architecture (AWS and GCP) to deliver durable, scalable outcomes that support organizational growth.
• Lead and apply deep expertise in organization-scale Terraform and infrastructure as code to deliver durable, scalable outcomes.
• Lead and apply deep expertise in cloud networking and governance to deliver durable, scalable outcomes.
• Lead and apply deep expertise in FinOps instrumentation and cloud economics to deliver durable, scalable outcomes.
• Lead and apply deep expertise in AI-assisted engineering with rigorous review to deliver durable, scalable outcomes.
• Lead and apply deep expertise in technical leadership without line authority to deliver durable, scalable outcomes.
• Collaborate across engineering, product and scientific teams to translate complex needs into practical solutions.
• Set a high bar for quality, documentation and thoughtful use of AI-assisted engineering.

• Establish and enforce cloud security standards, compliance frameworks and governance policies to protect organizational assets.
• Drive incident response protocols and reliability improvements to ensure high availability of cloud infrastructure.
• Conduct architecture reviews and provide technical guidance on cloud design decisions to ensure alignment with organizational standards.
