Job summary

Boston Dynamics is seeking a Staff Embedded Perception Engineer specializing in tactile sensing to advance robotic manipulation. You will design sensing systems that translate tactile signals into actionable data, working across embedded, sensing hardware, signal processing, and robotics.

You will build high‑bandwidth data acquisition and firmware, enable closed‑loop manipulation, and collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software teams to improve reliability of robotic platforms in

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or related field; BS with significant relevant experience also considered.
• 5+ years of embedded systems experience in robotics or electromechanical products.
• Strong understanding of tactile sensing physics and sensor modeling.
• Experience with embedded C/C++, Verilog/VHDL, SPI/I2C/CAN communications.
• Python and PyTorch for sensor data processing.
• Proven technical communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teams to design, evaluate, and demonstrate new sensing solutions.
• Architect and implement high‑performance embedded firmware for tactile data.
• Design automated data‑collection routines for ground-truth datasets.
• Characterize sensor behavior under motion, vibration, and temperature.
• Develop DSP pipelines to filter and fuse sensor signals.
• Model sensor performance for sim‑to‑real integration.
• Debug electronics and improve system reliability.
• Work with cross‑functional teams to define interfaces.
• Document designs and contribute to tooling and standards.
