Engine by Starling is seeking Backend Staff Engineers to join a fast-growing fintech platform. You will lead complex banking-related projects, champion high-quality code, and work across teams, shaping our tooling and automation while delivering new features from scratch.

You will contribute to the core Engine platform, collaborating with engineers, solution architects, and product owners to meet client goals and drive innovation in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with backend software engineering in Java or similar.
• Experience delivering complex systems in distributed architectures.
• Knowledge of cloud-native approaches (AWS/GCP).
• Proven ability to lead technical delivery on large-scale projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple complex projects from inception to delivery.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship within the team.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to meet client goals across banking platforms.
• Shape tooling, automation, and architecture for Engine.
