A prominent NHS Trust in Norwich is seeking an SSD Technician to join their Sterile Services department. In this physically demanding role, you will be responsible for decontaminating and sterilising surgical instruments. You will play a crucial part in ensuring essential support to clinical services, requiring good communication skills and attention to detail. The Sterile Services department (SSD) provides essential services of reprocessing surgical instruments and Endoscopy for use in wards and departments within the trust and outside practices.
As an SSD Technician you will have the opportunity to work within a friendly and skilled team, providing essential support to clinical service providers. You will be involved in the decontamination, inspecting, assembling, packaging, sterilising and distributing of surgical instrumentation for supply to Wards, Departments, Theatres and Endoscopy.
The role is physically demanding, pushing, pulling, lifting and handling heavy instrument sets and long periods of standing. It is necessary to transport theatre equipment around the hospital using trolleys.
The successful candidate will be required to work 1 weekend in 3 and 2 Bank Holidays in the year.
Shifts will be: 14:00 - 22:00 hrs
