Job summary

Meltwater Group is seeking a backend-focused software engineer to design and build scalable API and export features in a cloud-native environment. You will contribute to high-throughput data pipelines and MCP server architecture, working with AWS, Golang, and modern observability practices.

The role emphasizes collaboration with product managers and senior engineers, developing resilient microservices, and improving developer experience around APIs and data workflows.

Qualifications

• 4+ years software engineering with backend focus.
• Proficiency in Golang.
• Experience designing resilient REST APIs and cloud-native apps (AWS).
• Strong understanding of microservice architecture and backend design.

Responsibilities

• Own design, development, and optimization of API, export, and MCP features.
• Collaborate with product managers and senior engineers to define functionality and architecture for high-throughput pipelines.
• Build robust export pipelines, streaming architectures, webhook integrations, and MCP servers.
• Maintain high observability and reliability using tools like CloudWatch and Grafana.
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident response for owned services.

Salary: £65,000 - 105,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require 4+ years of software engineering experience with a strong backend focus.
• We require proficiency in Golang.
• We value experience using AI-augmented development workflows such as Claude, Codex, or Copilot.
• We are looking for experience designing and developing resilient REST APIs and cloud-native applications, preferably on AWS.
• We are looking for a strong understanding of microservice architecture and backend design principles.
• We need solid knowledge of Postgres and Redis, and ideally DynamoDB.
• Nice to have: familiarity with asynchronous or event-driven architectures using SQS, SNS, or webhooks.
• Nice to have: exposure to DevOps workflows and tools such as Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Nice to have: experience working with data exports, reporting systems, or data streaming.
• Nice to have: experience improving developer experience around APIs, such as OpenAPI, Swagger, or static site generators.
• Nice to have: familiarity with authentication, API gateways, and rate limiting strategies.
• Nice to have: experience in compliance standards for APIs and data handling.
• Nice to have: experience with observability tools and practices.
