Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal Private Equity Performance Improvement (PEPI) seeks a Director (m/f/d) – Supply Chain in the Greater London area. You will lead large, complex engagements for private equity clients, guiding supply chain optimisation from strategy through implementation, including cost-to-serve and working capital improvements.

The role requires 10–15+ years in consulting or industry, a Master’s degree, and fluency in English and German.

A&M’s Private Equity Performance Improvement (PEPI) practice focuses on serving upper middle market and large cap private equity firms who have engaged A&M to diligence potential acquisition targets in pre‑deal situations as well as help improve operating results at their portfolio companies. Our area of expertise is integrated pre‑deal due diligence assistance and supporting performing companies to deliver a growth strategy as well as supporting under‑performing with a need to reorganise or take costs out. Working directly with company management, A&M helps stabilise financial and operational performance by developing and implementing comprehensive profitability and working capital improvement measures.

A&M’s Supply Chain professionals assist our clients in analysing each part of the supply chain process including strategic sourcing and procurement, logistics and distribution, integrated demand and supply planning to identify value creation opportunities, develop a roadmap to accelerate those opportunities and assist with driving them to our client’s bottom line. Professional Experience

• Lead and deliver large, complex client engagements working closely with Private Equity leadership to identify, design and implement creative business solutions for their portfolio companies.
• Hands‑on experience through consulting projects or engagement in at least several of the following areas is required:
• Gain a comprehensive understanding of a client’s supply chain including manufacturing and distribution locations, baseline of product flow and seasonality, detailed operating costs, key supply chain processes in sourcing, planning and operations.
• Develop a structured approach to assessing potential improvement opportunities, and conduct required analysis to define potential supply chain strategies and tactics to meet growth and financial objectives.
• Analyse supply chain network design and footprints:
• Baseline warehousing and distribution network cost structure and capacity utilisation.
• Profile supply chain processes and inventory flows throughout the network.
• Analyse network optimisation opportunities for cost, inventory and service delivery (experience with modelling software such as Llamasoft or other preferred).
• Optimal number and location of distribution centres / network configuration.
• Assess inventory planning processes and systems and recommend potential improvement opportunities for optimising service levels and inventory working capital requirements.
• Develop transformation plans to drive proposed changes in transportation, freight optimisation, warehousing & distribution, and develop implementation plan and estimated range and timing of benefits (OPEX / inventory / service delivery).
• Implement and oversee the quality of deliverables and effectively manage the team and day‑to‑day relationships to ensure exceptional performance.
• Ability to both conduct analysis and lead teams to conduct analysis.

Qualifications

• 10–15 plus years of combined consulting and industry operating experience.
• Preference for industry leadership roles within Supply Chain / Distribution and Logistics.
• Previous distribution and logistics analysis / advisory experience within industry, consulting or 3PL environment.
• Experience in leading or modelling supply chains using software support tools (e.g. Llamasoft, etc.).
• Master’s degree from an accredited university is essential.
• Fluency to a native level in both written and verbal English and German is essential.
