Job description

Our client is looking for a DBA with experience in database technologies and good understanding of SQL/Oracle development.

This is a contract role initially for 6 months with good possibility of extension. Please note that this role is fully onsite - 4 days per week in London and 1 day onsite in Milton Keynes.

Due to the nature of the role DV + NPPV3 clearance is required.

Essential Experience Required
  • Experience in database technologies and a good understanding of SQL/Oracle development and scripting tools; Oracle DB Architecture, Performance, Database Installation & Configuration
  • Experience in database administration, including back‑ups, maintenance, performance monitoring and troubleshooting, security management, patch management
  • Experience in implementing high availability setups such as Always on HA, Mirroring, log shipping and Microsoft Clustering
  • Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft SQL Server Stack - SSMS, SSAS, SSIS & SSRS
  • Experience working on Linux
  • Able to work to tight deadlines and changing priorities
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server internals and core database functionality (indexes, schemas, triggers, etc.)
  • Good understanding of database architecture and database design
With a view to carrying out the following
  • Installation, configuration, maintenance, performance of DB systems - SQL and Oracle
  • Monitor & maintain and tune databases to optimise availability of server as well as troubleshooting performance
  • Creating suitable database alerts as well as proactively monitor and respond to alerts
  • Troubleshot performance and connection issues
  • Build environments based on standards and best practices that would align to operational and business requirements
  • Monitor database maintenance scripts for backups, index rebuild/defragment, and database statistics
  • Producing, maintaining, and ensuring backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly
  • Application implementation, IT application and applications support, technical support, problem solving, technical documentation, communication
  • Support of application installation, configuration, maintenance
  • Availability for out of hours support as part of a support rotation
