Job summary

Springfield Primary Academy is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant (Level 2) to support pupils across the primary age range and assist in running the After School Club. The role covers 9:00am–3:30pm, two days a week, and 9:00am–5:45pm, three days per week, with a permanent contract starting as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

• Work with individuals and small groups of pupils to identify choices and targets that the individual and school can work towards.
• Support, assist and enable pupils to access the curriculum and develop social and independence skills to their fullest ability.
• Lead interventions with children, as directed by the class teacher.
• Observe individuals and groups of pupils’ personal, social and learning achievements.
• Maintain appropriate records, monitor progression and attainment and provide reports and information to inform and support the assessment process.
• Monitor pupils’ conduct and behaviour throughout the learning process and intervene to resolve routine issues using appropriate techniques and skills to de-escalate potential difficult situations or resolve simple conflict with individuals and groups of pupils to establish and maintain a safe and calm atmosphere conducive to learning and ensure the safety and wellbeing of pupils, staff and visitors.
• Provide advice, assistance, information and support to all pupils to enable them to have full access to learning and life opportunities.
• Contribute to the development and interpretation of individual programmes to best support the pupils.
• To support in the daily running of the After School Club, working with the team to ensure and provide care, play opportunities and activities in a homely, nurturing and safe environment, with regard to the individual development needs of the children.
