Would you love to join a welcoming independent preparatory school in Wandsworth, where you can share your enthusiasm for sport, coach talented young athletes and make a real difference to pupils in Years 3-8?

  • Confidently teach and coach hockey and netball (essential for this role)
  • Enjoy teaching a variety of other sports, including cricket and tennis
  • Free school lunches available (agency staff eligibility to be confirmed)
  • On-site bicycle and scooter storage
  • Exciting opportunities to lead fixtures, tournaments and extracurricular sport
  • Excellent transport links into the school

Martin at Education 365 is delighted to be partnering with a lovely independent preparatory school in Wandsworth to recruit a Temporary Sports Teacher for a full-time, one-year maternity cover opportunity starting in February 2027.

We would love to hear from enthusiastic, approachable and inspiring Sports Teachers who enjoy bringing energy and creativity to their lessons, encouraging teamwork and helping every pupil feel confident, included and excited about sport.

As a Temporary Sports Teacher, you will deliver engaging PE and Games lessons across Key Stages 2 and 3, developing pupils' sporting skills, confidence and enjoyment of physical activity. You will also coach school teams, prepare pupils for competitive fixtures and contribute to a vibrant programme of tournaments, clubs and sporting events.

The ability to confidently teach and coach both hockey and netball is essential for this position. The school is looking for someone who can bring strong practical knowledge, enthusiasm and experience in both sports, while also contributing to the wider sporting programme, including cricket, tennis and other activities. Experience developing young athletes, preparing teams for fixtures and encouraging pupils of all abilities to achieve their personal best would be highly valued.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a qualified Sports Teacher, or an experienced PE and Games practitioner with substantial relevant teaching and coaching experience, who enjoys being part of a close-knit school community. You should be enthusiastic, organised, collaborative and passionate about creating a positive sporting environment where every pupil can thrive.

With a February 2027 start planned, we are speaking with interested candidates now and would be delighted to learn more about your teaching experience, particularly your hockey and netball coaching background, other sporting specialisms and availability.

Applicants should demonstrate excellent communication skills, relevant teaching or coaching experience within a primary or preparatory school setting, a strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing, and the right to work in the UK. QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification is welcomed, although substantial relevant teaching and coaching experience will also be considered.
